MISSION IMPOSSIBLE - 1 year Anniversary

May 21st, 1996. Tom Cruise continues to cement his status as one of the top draws in film as he stars in the movie adaptation of a beloved tv show. Mission Impossible is an espionage movie but with Cruise in the cast it's taken to another level. Disguises, action, and one of the best movie moments in the history of the industry sets Mission Impossible apart from others. Here we are 27 years late and the 7th entry into this franchise is headed to theaters soon, so this one must have done something right. A stellar cast, great casting, and a 90's feel that you can't escape. All those things made the movie work when it came out, but we want to know, Does it Hold Up?

July 16th 2010. Dreams will never be the same after watching Christopher Nolan's latest film Inception. How can I know that what I'm dreaming is real? Am I awake right now? The whole world was asking these questions after watching Inception for the very first time. Leonardo DiCaprio wowed audiences with his portrayal of Cobb, a man obsessed with getting back to his kids by planting an idea into a man's dreams. With a stacked cast, a fantastic script, the BWONG noise, and some amazing special effects, the world of film would never be the same again. Was it all a dream, and does it hold up?

This movie tells audiences everywhere it's never to late to chase your dreams because you never know when they are going to come true. This is such a heart-warming story, but as always we wanna know, DOES IT HOLD UP?

Just two years after Selena's tragic murder by Yolanda Saldivar, the movie let's audiences into the life and times of the Grammy winner from when she was a just girl first learning to sing and learning to speak Spanish, all the way to her untimely death. 
This movie stars Jennifer Lopez, Edward James Olmos, Jon Seda, Constance Marie, Jackie Guerra, Jacob Vargas, and more. With this movie releasing almost 2 years to the day after the murder took place, does it do justice to the story or does it feel rushed? Does it give you the full story or does it hide some of the truth? There's many questions that can be asked, but the only one we can answer is, Does It Hold Up?

We delve deep into this musical classic to debate the good and bad merits of the movie. This is an all timer that we believed everyone loved, but as we began watching we couldn't help but wonder if we have been wrong this entire time.

WHIPLASH

October 10th, 2014 Damien Chazelle brings to audiences everywhere his first directorial debut. All about Jazz drumming enthusiast Andrew, played by Miles Teller, going toe to toe with overbearing and controversial teacher Fletcher, played by J.K. Simmons. This is a story about how drive and passion can become overwhelming and may not always be the right way to go about things. It also asks a very complicated question of teaching methods and when does it cross the line and become too much.
Some brilliant performances drive the at times unfocused narrative. The directing is amazing and the jazz infused score is hypnotizing. There is so much to like about this film, but there's just as much to dislike. So the question as always is...Does it hold up?

AIRPLANE!

July 2nd 1980, one of the most iconic, satirical, spoofy, parody movies ever made hits the big screen. Airplane! is a movie ("What's that?" "It's a serious of moving images, but that's not important right now.") that everyone knows the lines from, has seen clips from, and remembers fondly. Surely, Leslie Nielsen has his most famous role in this movie. Yes he does, and don't call me Shirley. There are jokes flying a mile a minute in this wacky comedy based entirely on the 1957 film Zero Hour, but there's no way these jokes still work in 2023. That's what we are here to find out, does Airplane! hold up?

There will be some tombs, there will be some raiding, and there is plenty of Lara Croft in this action packed attempt at making a video game come to the big screen. Will Lara succeed? Will this movie break the video game curse? But most importantly, will this movie hold up?
